At Monarch, our every decision is framed with empathy for our clients and their desires for their families and futures. As a result, our clients feel a sense of:
Our team comes from backgrounds of diverse specialties — from investments to planning, and from private banking to real estate — but we all trace our roots back to trust companies within multinational banks.
Whether devising complex investment, tax or estate planning strategies, our team does so with dedication and precision. We remain fluent with the latest legal and tax issues facing families by sponsoring an ongoing education forum with nationally renowned speakers for attorneys and CPAs.
With over two decades of experience as a senior portfolio manager, Brian Zeitz brings a wealth of practical knowledge to his role as Monarch’s Director of Investments. Always with an eye on the bigger picture, Brian asks the deeper questions: Do investment opportunities conform to our clients’ ethical and moral values? Are we striking the proper balance between our desire for superior returns and the inherent risk in striving for relative out-performance? While his days are spent in spreadsheets, research analysis, trading and portfolio management, Brian’s nights may find him working with a child of a client who needs direction, or teaching investments at The Women’s Resource Center.
We are committed to success, but never at the expense of what matters most. Personal relationships are the bedrock of our business and we pride ourselves on placing principles before profits. Indeed, we work every day to be the embodiment of the following four principles:
We believe that collecting commissions on trading, paying for referrals and participating in soft-dollar research agreements compromise a firm’s integrity. These may be standard practices across the industry, but not here. We are not your standard firm.
We are an open book at Monarch. Clients have access to information at their fingertips, at all times. There are no hidden fees and no obscure investments, only complete transparency. It’s brilliant in its simplicity, yet unusual for a financial firm.
As informed and assertive as our money managers may be in the financial arena, we would never presume to dismiss a client’s input about their investments. We believe that humility is an essential element in a healthy relationship and we treasure our client’s opinion on all manner of subjects, from business dealings to wine recommendations.
Our money managers are accountable to you alone and keep you in the loop when making investment decisions in your best interest. You won’t deal with unknown mutual fund managers in far flung places. You’ll maintain control over your own financial destiny. As you should.
As an industry rule, a comprehensive offering of services such as ours are generally only available to families with wealth in excess of twenty-five million dollars. But we are the exception to that rule. We serve families who have need of traditional family office services, but do not meet the high minimum requirement to become clients.
As further points of distinction, Monarch functions as more than a fiduciary investment management practice. We are more than a financial planning firm. We are:
Monarch offers a more integrated wealth management approach, combining individual security selection, sector allocation and broader asset allocation management within our actively managed portfolios to manage risk and mitigate taxes. We take positions in large growing companies, many paying a consistent and growing stream of dividend income. We complement our quality large cap holdings with small and mid-cap securities, international and emerging markets, as well as alternatives and commodities to enhance performance and lower portfolio risk. Prudent management coupled with low cost and tax efficiency leads to superior long-term outcomes.
Monarch’s fees are all-inclusive and transparent. They cover discovery and implementation, asset allocation modeling and active portfolio management. Advice centered on family financial governance, estate planning, gifting and charitable considerations are included. For an additional fee, Monarch offers financial planning, bill payment and cash flow management.
Our integrated wealth management approach focuses first and foremost on investment planning. We help clients determine an appropriate risk exposure which, coupled with a determination of personal cash flow needs, allows us to create a fully customized asset allocation. We continue to add value by analyzing the tax consequences of each potential trade.
Our role is to understand each of our clients’ circumstances and to marshal the resources required to help clients meet their specific goals. In our fully customized portfolio construction, we take into account client investments outside of our firm. In so doing we reduce redundant positions and risk of over exposure to asset classes.
It is not unusual with the proliferation of investment newsletters, updates, and blogs to have a client forward a piece and ask our opinion on someone else’s opinion. We do not resent it; we welcome it. It is an excellent opportunity to explore new ideas, outlooks, and occasionally some bit of information that has yet […]
As we reflect on the period of the prior ten years (which has no generally accepted name; the teens?, the tens?) and we look forward to the easily-nameable decade ahead it’s a good time to share some observations and current thinking.
Ned Davis Research, one of our favorite sources of forecasting says we’re already in what will be a bear market.
